Auto Guidance Systems - GPS - RTK  From Torgersons, LLC

   Torgerson’s is proud to announce the addition of two Auto Guidance Specialists; Doug Rohlf and Kris Kloeckner. Doug is in our Great Falls location and services the Great Falls, Havre and Ethridge regions; and Kris services the Billings and Lewistown regions from our Billings store. Whether you need in store service or help out in the field, our trained technicians are available to assist you.

   Our technicians are well trained and have extensive experience with the Trimble EZ products including the EZ Guide Plus, EZ Guide 500/250, EZ Steer system and the EZ Boom. They are also well versed in the operation of CNH factory installed Accu-Guide Hydraulic Auto Steer systems and the PRO 600 color touch screen.

   A new technology available to Montana farmers is RTK (Real Time Kinematics,) a ground-based GPS correction system that gives its operators sub-inch accuracy.  Torgerson’s Auto Guidance technicians have been trained on this as well, and currently have five base stations and one repeater network in use in the state. Our goal is to have at least fifteen networks up and running by the end of 2009.

   You may be asking yourself why you would ever need RTK? Is sub-inch accuracy really that important to your operation? Think about this:  With an RTK system, your corrected GPS signal is repeatable every day, month and year.  That means your stored guidance lines in the fields never move.  You no longer have to recalibrate or shift guidance lines throughout the day, or have to worry about nudging from pass to pass.  With a GPS signal that is almost perfect and never moves, you can feasibly take overlaps to nearly zero, putting money back in your pocket.
